Life’s a Traveling Circus
Well, in checking out the on-line amnesty news last night, it appears that us conservatives have been bent over yet once more. I’m so reminded of the old saying, “those who forget history are doomed to repeat it”. Maybe that’s why our public education system teaches so much revisionist stuff these days? Because the people coming up after us old folks won’t have a clue, and so will repeat all the errors and tyrannies over and over again.
Here’s a little food for thought. And please don’t tell me how stupid I am for believing in “ancient fairy tales”, because this has happened in every culture and society throughout the era of civilization. When Christ came into Jerusalem for the last time, on His way to the crucifixion, the only people who really opposed Him and wanted to put Him to death so they could continue to exercise their power over the helpless population, were the Pharisees, the priests and rulers. Most of the people wanted, and were clamoring for, a different kind of government, and were hopeful that that was what Christ represented: deliverance from the cruelty and oppression of the leaders of their day.
So here’s the point for thought: a handful of powerful people in the government made the decision that enslaved their populace for centuries. Think of Marie Antoinette, “let them eat cake”. World War I and World War II, and all the other wars. Pink Floyd, “the generals act, and the lines on the map move from side to side” and the people are shuffled about like sheep.
History repeats itself. And we get fooled (and take it) every time.
P.S. (A little postscript regarding Obamacare; it’s so much fun. Before the election the premium for the individual health plan Mike chose was $192.36. After the election, the premium is $603.53. More than TRIPLE. God bless us all, every one!)
